QUICK AND EASY MONGOLIAN BEEF BOWL
This is one dinner my family asks for on repeat. On nights when I don't have the energy, I always lean on quick, family-friendly meals like this.The aromas of the ginger, soy and garlic, give it such amazing flavor! Plus, it's a great for easy meal prep during the week. One of my favorite healthy, weeknight meals I like to keep for days when I really don't have much time in the kitchen. - Ground Beef: I recommend using lean ground beef or lean protein option, such as ground turkey or chicken.
- Vegetables: Onions, green onions, broccoli and carrots add great texture and flavor to the recipe.
- Seasonings: The seasonings used include salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, sesame seeds, crushed red peppers, ginger paste and minced garlic.
HOW TO MAKE EASY MONGOLIAN BEEF BOWLS
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add sesame oil to pain and cook onions and ground beef.
- Add minced garlic and stir.
- In a separate bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, seasonings, rice vinegar, ginger paste and slurry mixture together.
- Turn heat down to low on skillet, and add mixture.
- Add vegetables and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes covered.
- Serve over rice with green onions and sesame seeds on top.
TIPS AND TRICKS
Leftovers: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight, sealed container for 3-4 days in the refrigerator. This quick and easy mongolian beef bowl is a great meal prep option to have during the week.
Protein: I recommend using lean ground beef to help decrease the amount of grease in skillet. You can also substitute ground beef for ground turkey or chicken.
Brown Sugar: If you are looking for a healthier alternative to the brown sugar, I recommend using Swerve's brown sugar substitute. It has less of the sugar amount, but still provides that delicious sweet flavor!

Mongolian Beef Bowls
Equipment
- 1 medium skillet
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- ⅓ cup reduced sodium soy sauce
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- ¼ cup diced yellow onion
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1-2 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1.5 tablespoon ginger paste
- broccoli
- shaved carrots
- green onions
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- On a large skillet over medium heat, add sesame oil to pan. cook diced onions until translucent, and cook beef completely.
- Add 1-2 tablespoon minced garlic.
- in a separate bowl, combine soy sauce, salt, pepper, rice vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, crushed red peppers, ginger paste, sesame seeds, and brown sugar. add 1 tablespoon cornstarch and 1 tablespoon cold water to create a slurry.
- add slurry to sauce mixture, then add to ground beef in skillet.
- add sliced carrots and it let simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- top with green onions, and additional sesame seeds.
- can be served over rice with broccoli.
