Easy Pizza Muffins

These are my secret weapon for after-school snacks and last-minute appetizers. I always have the ingredients on hand and my kids go absolutely crazy for them every single time.

Three pepperoni and cheese muffins sit on a white plate, with shredded cheese, pepperoni slices, and a small blue bowl of marinara sauce in the background. The scene is set on a wooden surface with a striped cloth.

They come out of the oven looking like little pizza pull-aparts and tasting like exactly what everyone at the table wants. Serve them with marinara on the side and watch them disappear in about four minutes.

These work as an after-school snack, a game day appetizer, a party bite, or honestly just a fun Friday night dinner that makes kids feel like you did something special.

Ingredients Needed To Make Pizza Muffins

The Dough and Filling

One can of Pillsbury biscuit dough are cut into small pieces. The pieces puff up around the pepperoni and cheese as they bake and create these soft, slightly chewy, buttery little pizza bites. Diced pepperoni or mini pepperoni add the classic pizza flavor. Shredded mozzarella melts into gooey pockets throughout every muffin cup.

The Seasoning

Melted butter coats everything and adds a deep richness. Grated Parmesan adds a salty, slightly nutty layer. Italian seasoning, dried oregano, and garlic powder season every bite throughout.

The Dipping Sauce

Marinara on the side is non-negotiable. It takes these from a good snack to a complete pizza experience.

How to Serve Easy Pizza Muffins

Serve these hot, straight from the muffin tin with a bowl of warm marinara. A sprinkle of extra Parmesan and a few fresh basil leaves over the top makes them look more intentional if you're serving them as an appetizer for guests. For a full easy dinner spread, I love serving these alongside the One Pan Lazy Lasagna for an Italian-American comfort food table that covers both a handheld pizza bite and a full pasta dinner without any overlap.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pizza Muffins

Can I use a different dough?

Yes. Crescent roll dough cut into pieces works and produces a slightly flakier, more buttery result. Pizza dough cut into small cubes works for a chewier, more pizza-like texture. Pillsbury Grands biscuits cut into smaller pieces produce a bigger, fluffier muffin. Any refrigerated dough in a similar amount works ... Pillsbury regular biscuits are specifically recommended because they're the right size and produce the best texture for this format.

Can I add other toppings inside?

Yes. Diced bell pepper adds a sweet, slightly crunchy element. Sliced black olives add a briny depth. Cooked and crumbled Italian sausage in place of or alongside the pepperoni adds a spicier, more substantial filling. Diced jalapeños add heat. Sun-dried tomatoes add a concentrated sweetness. Keep total additions moderate so the muffin cups don't overflow during baking.

Why cut each biscuit into 6 pieces?

Cutting each biscuit into 6 small pieces rather than leaving them whole allows the pieces to mix together with the pepperoni, cheese, and butter coating and bake into a cohesive, pull-apart muffin rather than a single whole biscuit sitting in a cup. The smaller pieces also mean more surface area gets coated in the garlic butter and seasoning which makes every bite more flavorful throughout.
